My name is Brad Halley, my wife Pam and I have lived and done business in Delaware County for over 20 years. Our story is a long one but here it is in a nut shell.
We would like to introduce you to the Hoops for Hope 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament that benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central Ohio. This year, the tournament is on Saturday July 15th at Dublin Scioto High School,  located at 4000 Hard Rd in Dublin, Ohio. There are lots of great causes out there, why should you support ours?
Twenty-one years ago, my 15 year old son Zack was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and, for the next 28 months, the disease consumed all of our lives.
Accept that about eighteen years ago, Zack became a “Wish Kid” and the caring people of the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted his wish to restore an old Corvette. That day when Coach Cooper drove that car into the Woody Hayes Facility with the Buckeye football team cheering him on will never be forgotten. And the smile on Zack’s face that day could have lit up the largest, darkest room.
After Zack’s death, my wife and I struggled to find some way to “Pay Forward” to those people who provided our son with that pleasant oasis in the midst of his problems.
In July of 2003, we held the first Hoops for Hope Tournament with 8 teams and, with the help of our church friends and the Delaware County community, we started something. Hoops for Hope has become a family event with 3-on-3 basketball, skills competitions, a silent auction, great food and music and we have raised over $142,000.
So what would we like for you to do? You could join other Delaware area businesses and provide a financial donation or a silent auction item. Maybe you could come out on the 15th have a brat and a drink, sit down and watch some basketball, help out at a scorers table, listen to some music, try your luck at the skills competitions or bid on an auction item. We would greatly appreciate any of the above.
ORRRR if you or someone you know wants to strap it up, what we call the ultimate commitment, go to the website hoops4hope.org and get registered. Each year our overhead costs go down and by now a large percentage of the funds raised goes straight to those kids. The Central Ohio chapter has between 100 and 120 kids who need wishes at any one time. If you and I know that we can put that special life changing smile on a kids face how can we not help.
There are event flyers and donation forms on the website for you to print out and copy.
Thank You for your time.
